Basketball Recap: Bennett Piles Up the Points Against Alameda

Bennett was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Alameda on Monday. The Bennett Tigers breezed past the Alameda Pirates to the tune of 85-34. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Bennett had a senior duo take command as Owen Stiers went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points and five steals and Jayden Ivory almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Stiers is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Avant Dickens, who posted nine points.

Bennett was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alameda only four assists.

Despite the defeat, Alameda saw an underclassman step up: freshman Vinny Arguello put up ten points. Dominic Huerta was another key player, putting up seven points.

Bennett has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points over those games. Alameda's loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Bennett didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-55 defeat against Prospect Ridge Academy on the 28th. As for Alameda, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-12 loss against Middle Park on the 25th.
