The Hunter Wolverines will face off against the Hillcrest Huskies at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hunter has given up an average of 50.6 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hunter is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against West Jordan on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wolverines took a blow against the Jaguars, falling 79-45. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Hunter got top-tier performance from Grace Gallagher, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Gallagher is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last 46 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Montoya, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cyprus on Tuesday, sneaking past 39-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since January 28, 2025.
Hunter better focus on containing Sam Sebahar and Emily Mandel as the pair were huge in Hillcrest's win. Sebahar earned five points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Mandel scored ten points and seven boards. Josie Haddock was another key player, putting up seven points.
Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Hunter, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hunter has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 38.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hillcrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 25.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Hunter against Hillcrest in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 58-29 win. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
