After both having extra time off, the North Duplin Rebels and the Southwest Onslow Stallions will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for North Duplin on the road against Jones as the team secured a 60-29 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-16.
Addy Higginbotham was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. Reece Outlaw was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Southwest Onslow put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 55-21 victory over South Lenoir on the road. Given Southwest Onslow's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while South Lenoir is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southwest Onslow got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Yamorie Hardison out in front who scored 21 points along with eight assists and seven steals. The match was Hardison's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khimara Dorsey , who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
North Duplin's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Southwest Onslow, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Wednesday as the pair are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. North Duplin hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.2 points per game. However, it's not like Southwest Onslow struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 55 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
