Softball Recap: Tillamook Wins Going Away Against Nestucca

Tillamook's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Nestucca Bobcats 18-8. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Cheesemakers this season.

Meghan Erickson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Erickson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kamyryn Simmons was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Aubrey Arthur also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Tillamook hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Tillamook's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Nestucca, their record is now 2-8.

Looking ahead, Tillamook will square off against Seaside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cheesemakers are facing the Seagulls at the right time seeing as the Seagulls are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Nestucca has already played their next contest (against Yamhill-Carlton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
