Valley has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Artesia Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday.
Valley pushed their score all the way to 67, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-67 to La Cueva. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley in their matchups with La Cueva: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Valley got a solid performance out of Julian Chavez, who scored 24 points along with five steals. Chavez is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Kozlowski, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Artesia beat Valencia 54-50 on Friday.
Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Artesia, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Valley won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in March, slipping by Artesia 49-48. Does Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Artesia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
