Desert Vista (Phoenix, Ariz.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
Westwood (Mesa, Ariz.), 41-13, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Zach Gonzalez in the first quarter, the Thunder led 20-0 at the half.
Desert Vista expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. DV's lone score in the quarter came on a
Kaleb Germinaro touchdown run.
Germinaro played well for the Phoenix school in the victory. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
The Warriors'
Mike Egger was the standout player for his team. The senior threw two touchdowns.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Thunder came away with a 63-7 victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Desert Vista, which was coming off a 23-21 defeat at the hands of Mountain Pointe in its previous game. The loss was the third in a row for Westwood.
Westwood (1-3) goes up against Mountain View in a I Section III game matchup next week, while Desert Vista (3-1) locks horns with Corona del Sol in a non-conference game.
