The Wesley Chapel Wildcats will square off against the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wesley Chapel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Wesley Chapel is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Pasco on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wesley Chapel got a good showing from Ashley Bolt, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bolt has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wesley Chapel saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisen Stewart, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Juliana Martin was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass Ranch had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 10-5.
Aubrey Zechmann was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sophia Estevez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Wiregrass Ranch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
Wiregrass Ranch pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both Wesley Chapel and Wiregrass Ranch just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Wiregrass Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Wesley Chapel's way against Wiregrass Ranch in their previous matchup back in February, as Wesley Chapel made off with a 15-9 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
