Green Canyon hasn't had much luck against Mountain Crest recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wolfpack will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. Green Canyon has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Green Canyon came up short against Alta and fell 11-8.
Kylee Hickman put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. She also got a hit, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Quincey White and Bailey Bowman stepped up to the plate in a big way. White went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, while Bowman got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Carter, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Crest). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Syracuse a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2025 (when they won 17-4).
The team relied heavily on Abby Nelson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Izzy Laughery was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mountain Crest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only posted an OBP of .316.
The win made it two in a row for Mountain Crest and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Green Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Mountain Crest's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Green Canyon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Mountain Crest, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Green Canyon's hitters?
Green Canyon might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Mountain Crest in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Wolfpack have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
