Brynna Travis made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Cassidy Hickman and Aubrey Rolleston did most of the damage at the plate: Hickman got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, seven RBI, and four runs, while Rolleston got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with six runs, three stolen bases, and one RBI. Leah McCabe also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Arcadia never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Nandua on Tuesday. They blew past the Warriors 15-1.
Like Holly Grove Christian, Arcadia also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryann Giddens. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Giddens was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Arcadia let Brinlee Kauthen and Megan Montross run wild. Kauthen went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Montross went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Montross has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Taylor, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Arcadia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Arcadia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Holly Grove Christian, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Holly Grove Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Arcadia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Holly Grove Christian suffered a grim 17-5 defeat to Arcadia when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
