Central is 8-2 against Clovis West since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Central will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Clovis on Friday. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Cougars. With that victory, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Kaia Galaviz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Central got a massive performance out of Kiki Diaz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Diaz has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kalena Olmos, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Clovis West has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.18 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell 11-7 to Clovis North.
Haley Rangel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Clovis West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7-1 record this season.
Both Central and Clovis West just can't seem to miss. The Grizzlies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Clovis West struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Clovis West in their previous meeting on April 4th, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
