Baseball Recap: Swink Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

The Swink Lions got the win against the Hoehne Farmers on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by nine runs or more this season.

Noah Pearson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Landon Mills was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Swink: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Luke Hanagan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Swink kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matchups.

Swink is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Hoehne, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Farmers beat Swink by a score of 6-4 later that day.
