The North Johnston Panthers lost against the Princeton Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. North Johnston was beaten by Princeton 41-14. North Johnston has struggled against Princeton recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, North Johnston saw an underclassman step up: Kaleb Pone rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 149 yards and a touchdown. Pone was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards.
Princeton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Teasley, who rushed for 78 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Austin Lewallen was another key contributor, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
North Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Princeton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
North Johnston will head out on the road to face off against Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northeastern's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for Princeton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Camden County at 7:00 p.m. Camden County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
