The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars lost against the Walthill Blujays back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lyons-Decatur Northeast was the victim of a rough 71-51 loss at the hands of Walthill. While losing is never fun, Lyons-Decatur Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Walthill is ranked 45th).
Despite the defeat, Lyons-Decatur Northeast had strong showings from Kaden Knaak, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, and Talan Mock, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eyan Tuttle, who scored five points.
Walthill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Phillips, who scored 12 points. Ethan Parker was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Walthill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Cedar Bluffs at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Cedar Bluffs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Walthill, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bancroft-Rosalie.
