The Northside Grizzlies had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-53 victory over Rogers. Given Northside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Rogers is ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Erianna Gooden was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Northside's points. Hazley Grotjohn was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Northside is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Northside will head out on the road to square off against Bentonville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches. As for Rogers, they will be playing at home against Har-Ber at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rogers has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
