Baseball Recap: Village Tech Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Village Tech waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Madison Trojans with a sharp 18-7 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 28-0 win last Friday.

Andrew May made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Village Tech is undefeated when May posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Village Tech let Angel Ontiveros and Preston Ross run wild. Ontiveros got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Ross got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Ontiveros is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Nicolas Soto was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Village Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Village Tech's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Madison, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
