Fitchburg found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 7-35 punch to the gut against Westborough on Saturday. The state rankings had actually given Fitchburg a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
The loss dropped Fitchburg's record to 2-4. The win got Westborough back to even at 3-3.
Next week Fitchburg take on Groton-Dunstable at 7:00 PM. Groton-Dunstable are limping into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Westborough, they will face off against Wachusett Regional. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
