Basketball Recap: South Greene Comes Up Short

South Greene was the 80-62 winner over David Crockett when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The South Greene Rebels fell 71-60 to the David Crockett Pioneers on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Rebels still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, South Greene saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gavin Dyer went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dyer has scored all season. William Arrowood was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points.

South Greene has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for David Crockett, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

South Greene will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Grainger at 8:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. David Crockett will take on Dobyns-Bennett in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Dobyns-Bennett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully David Crockett likes a good challenge.
