The Crawford Pirates fell victim to the Riesel Indians''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, Crawford couldn't push the score so high this time.
Riesel was led to victory by Grayson Oliver and Gavin Oliver. Oliver rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while Oliver rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Riesel's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cameron Phillips and Aydrik Degrate who racked up four sacks between them.
Crawford's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Riesel, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Crawford will be playing at home against Bruceville-Eddy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bruceville-Eddy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Riesel, they will head out on the road to face off against Bosqueville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bosqueville is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
