The Pleasant Grove Eagles suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 97-69 loss at the hands of Sheldon. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (63), Pleasant Grove still had to take the loss.
Pleasant Grove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Sykes, who scored 16 points. Sykes hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Carson Keplinger, who scored 13 points.
Sheldon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Woodard led the charge by scoring 22 points along with two steals. Woodard has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Zion Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Pleasant Grove now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Sheldon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will square off against Jesuit at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jesuit's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests. As for Sheldon, they will head out on the road to take on Cosumnes Oaks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cosumnes Oaks is on a four-game streak of home wins, Sheldon a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
