Softball Recap: Opelousas Catholic Comes Up Short

The Opelousas Catholic Vikings lost 8-2 to the Hahnville Tigers on Friday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashley Little was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

Little wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kale Lormand, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Opelousas Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Hahnville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Opelousas Catholic will head out to challenge St. Amant at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Amant will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Opelousas Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Hahnville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
