After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carroll, the Arcanum Trojans were happy to have found some success on Monday. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over Madison. For Arcanum, this counts as revenge for the 50-33 defeat the Mohawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Arcanum got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexis Gibbons out in front who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brooke Anderson, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kylie Wells. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Wells continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Emily Webb was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Arcanum's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Madison, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arcanum will challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Twin Valley South comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Oakwood is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
