Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

First Baptist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Sandoval Blackhawks and fell 44-10. First Baptist Academy lost against Sandoval in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 0-0 score last time.

Sandoval got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jenna Howell out in front who posted eight points along with seven assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiya Ray, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

First Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Sandoval, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

First Baptist Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Maryville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Sandoval, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Nokomis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Nokomis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
