The Troy Trojans will be playing at home against the Northwest Area Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing seems to be in Troy's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Northwest Area has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Troy got themselves on the board against Towanda, but Towanda never followed suit. They really took it to the Black Knights for the full four quarters, racking up a 37-0 win on the road. Given Troy's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Towanda is ranked 358th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Troy found their leader in underclassman Brendan Gilliland, who rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Camryn Harwick was in the mix as well, providing Troy with two touchdowns.
Troy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Evan Woodward and his two sacks.
Northwest Area never got on the board in their last matchup, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sayre last Friday. Northwest Area enjoyed a cozy 44-28 victory over Sayre.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwest Area to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominic Cavuto, who rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns. Jace Mccoy was another key contributor, throwing for 221 yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Troy to 7-0 and Northwest Area to 2-5.
Everything went Troy's way against Northwest Area in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Troy made off with a 35-13 win. Will Troy repeat their success, or does Northwest Area have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
