Oldham County is a perfect 10-0 against South Oldham since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Colonels will look to defend their home field against the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Oldham County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Oldham County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Mercy, who was ranked fourth at the time (Oldham County was ranked 16th). The Colonels came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jaguars on Monday, sneaking past 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won three in a row.
Laken Nimmo looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Batts was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kayla Cartledge was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, South Oldham got themselves on the board against Butler on Thursday, but Butler never followed suit. They blew past the Bears 10-0. Considering the Dragons have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Grace Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Turner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Schrecker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haiden Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
South Oldham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Butler only posted an OBP of .318.
Oldham County's victory bumped their record up to 23-9. As for South Oldham, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oldham County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like South Oldham struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
