Basketball Recap: Sabino's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sabino extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Caden Watkins. The stars were shining brightly for the Sabino Sabercats in a 72-53 win over the Mary Star of the Sea Stars on Friday thanks in part to Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in February.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Herndon, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 21 points and three steals. Herndon is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Sabino is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Sabino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-57 victory against South Summit on the 21st. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-39 win against Western on the 21st.
