The Universal Academy Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Winthrop College Prep Academy, falling 65-12. Universal Academy lost against Winthrop College Prep Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 23-19 score last time.
Winthrop College Prep Academy was led to victory by JoLesa Birkhead and Zamyria King. Birkhead scored 25 points along with seven steals, while King scored 26 points along with seven steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Birkhead has scored at least a third of Winthrop College Prep Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Cindy Muhanji, who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Universal Academy bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.
Universal Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Sarasota Christian at 4:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they will be playing at home against North Tampa Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Tampa Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
