Hawley and Albany are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hawley Bearcats face off against Albany Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Albany took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hawley, who comes in off a win.
Hawley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Haskell on Friday as Hawley made off with a 15-3 victory. The Bearcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th.
Keegan Ables made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Ables was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Aiden Romo was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylen Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hawley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Albany lost 14-2 to Stamford on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Albany saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Oliver, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Hawley's record is now 8-5-2. As for Albany, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3-3.
Hawley beat Albany 4-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Hawley repeat their success, or does Albany has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
