Even though the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan scored an imposing 70 points on Saturday, the Kenwood Broncos still came out on top. Kenwood walked away with an 82-70 victory over Chicago Mt. Carmel. The win was all the more spectacular given Kenwood's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Chicago Mt. Carmel is ranked fifth).
Christopher Riddle was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleks Alston, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Kenwood and bumps their season record up to 14-6. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenwood will face off against Englewood Stem at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Laurence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Laurence will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
