Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Jurupa Hills Spartans walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 28-6 margin over Irvine. The score was close at the half, but Jurupa Hills pulled away in the second half with 21 points.
Among those leading the charge was Jordan Pernillo, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Pernillo really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Jurupa Hills also got help from Jaylen Ephraim who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.
Jurupa Hills' victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Irvine, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Jurupa Hills will be playing at home against Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Aliso Niguel is ranked 217th, while Jurupa Hills is ranked 236th). Irvine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
