The Briarfield Academy Rebels came tearing into  Monday's  match with four straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. In a tight  contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a  40-39 win over Claiborne Academy. This was payback for Briarfield Academy, who suffered a  36-31  loss the last time these two teams met.
 Claiborne Academy's  loss shouldn't obscure the performances of  Audrie Teutsch, who  scored 12 points, and  Jaylee Baird who  scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was  Mattie Nowery, who  scored five points.
 Briarfield Academy is  on a roll lately: they've  won eight of their last nine games,  which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Claiborne Academy,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 6-9.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briarfield Academy will take on Riverdale Academy at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Claiborne Academy won't have much time to rest: their next  match is against Central School at 6:00  p.m.  on January 23rd.
