Last Tuesday, Papillion-LaVista South earned a 61-49 victory over Omaha Central. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Eagles are ranked 72nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Papillion-LaVista South's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Levi Webb, who went 6 for 13 en route to 20 points and five boards, and Reece Kircher, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Grant Beckenhauer was another key player, putting up nine points.
Papillion-LaVista South was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Central only racked up five assists.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Omaha North over Omaha Northwest in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Omaha North blew Omaha Northwest out of the water with a 63-19 final score. That 44 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Omaha North's win came from a few key players Papillion-LaVista South will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jerri'On Williams, who posted nine points along with six boards and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Brown, who had six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
Papillion-LaVista South's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Omaha North, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Papillion-LaVista South has been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 37.1% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Omaha North, though, as they've only made 26.9% of their three-pointers this season. Given Papillion-LaVista South's sizable advantage in that area, Omaha North will need to find a way to close that gap.
