After a string of five wins, the Standish-Sterling Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 63-30 loss at the hands of Hemlock. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Standish-Sterling in their matchups with Hemlock: they've now lost five in a row.
Leading Hemlock to victory were Carly Siler and Lauren Borsenik. Siler scored 13 points along with six assists, while Borsenik scored 12 points along with five steals. Borsenik is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Hannah Borsenik was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Standish-Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Hemlock, their victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Standish-Sterling will head out on the road to square off against Oscoda at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oscoda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Standish-Sterling is ranked 113th). As for Hemlock, they will be playing at home against Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Michigan Lutheran Seminary is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
