Baseball Game Preview: Basha Bears vs. Desert Vista Thunder

The Basha Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Desert Vista Thunder at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Basha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Queen Creek, who was ranked fourth at the time (Basha was ranked 25th). Basha fell 5-1 to Queen Creek on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Zach Bolles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Basha is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2-1 otherwise.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert Vista, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Mountain View with a sharp 19-5 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Desert Vista got a massive performance out of Jayden Garrison, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Garrison has posted over his last 12 games. Noah Gutierrez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Desert Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted a batting average of .318.

Basha's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1. As for Desert Vista, their record now sits at 9-3.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Basha hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Desert Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
