Baseball Game Preview: Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners vs. Prentiss Christian Saints

The Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners will venture away from home to square off against the Prentiss Christian Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hattiesburg HomeSchool has three straight wins, Prentiss Christian has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Coastal Mississippi Homeschool a 2-0 shutout.

Alex Sinclair made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hattiesburg HomeSchool is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise. Sinclair was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Sinclair wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Prentiss Christian lost 19-9 to Adams County Christian on Monday. While the Saints didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rebels 6-2 in the first period.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Prentiss Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool skirted past Prentiss Christian 7-5 in their previous meeting back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Forerunners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
