Philipsburg-Osceola is 2-8 against Bald Eagle Area since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Philipsburg-Osceola will face off against Bald Eagle Area at 4:00 p.m. Philipsburg-Osceola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Philipsburg-Osceola had taken DuBois down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Philipsburg-Osceola fell 9-5 to DuBois.
Alivia Bizzarri put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Bizzarri was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Addy Jarrett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emily Gustkey, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Bald Eagle Area was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Huntingdon. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.
Sierra Albright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Bald Eagle Area saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Having lost for the first time this season, Bald Eagle Area fell to 3-1. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Philipsburg-Osceola came up short against Bald Eagle Area in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Philipsburg-Osceola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
