Willapa Valley waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They had just enough and edged the Naselle Comets out 60-58. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 56-45 victory the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Willapa Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Ritzman, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nathan Fluke, who put up 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Willapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Willapa Valley's record now sits at 5-2. As for Naselle, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Willapa Valley will take on Crescent in a tournament on Friday. Willapa Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Crescent likes a good challenge. As for Naselle, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clallam Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
