1A Caribou Trail recap Sept. 26, 2012
Quincy's Darren Hodges recorded the longest rushing play in 1A Caribou Trail this season in his game against Brewster last week. Hodges scampered for 83 yards on the play and finished with 207 on the day as his team beat the Bears.
Cascade was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fourth in the league. The Kodiaks defeated Omak 54-7 earlier in the week.
Chelan's dynamic duo of Luke Gleasman and Eli Jenkins proved tough for Cashmere to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gleasman threw for 99 yards and Jenkins had 42 yards receiving. Zach Burchett helped Chelan's passing attack out by catching one ball for 30 yards.
Brewster's Parker Landdeck and Cade Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Landdeck has thrown for 407 yards this season, while Smith has 11 catches for 155 yards. Jacob Durfee from Quincy leads the league in rushing with 327 yards.
Two of the top units in 1A Caribou Trail will face off this week when Stephen Wallace's team takes on the Pioneers. The Jackrabbits' offense has scored 75 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Omak has allowed only 217 on the year.
Cascade moved up to 124 from 182 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Joe Cronin's team was able to make the jump by beating Nick Sackman's team 54-7.
