The Olathe North Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 53-49 W over Shawnee Mission West on Tuesday. This was payback for Olathe North, who suffered a 63-49 loss the last time these two teams met.
Olathe North found their leader in underclassman Asia Lee, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Lee also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Lailah Austin, who scored eight points along with five assists and three steals.
Olathe North's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Shawnee Mission West, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olathe North will take on Shawnee Mission North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Olathe North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Shawnee Mission West, they will be playing at home against Shawnee Mission Northwest on Friday. Shawnee Mission West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Shawnee Mission Northwest is ranked 58th).
