This season hasn't been kind to the Verbena Red Devils, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 53-36 to Billingsley. Verbena has not had much luck with Billingsley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Billingsley found their leader in underclassman Alana Jones, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of Billingsley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliyah McCary, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Verbena's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Billingsley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Verbena will head out on the road to face off against Maplesville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Billingsley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thorsby at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
