High Point Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Bellaire, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Liberty got the win against Pickens on Saturday by a conclusive 16-5. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Ethan Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Liberty is 5-2 when Carroll posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, T.J. Borow was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cade Collins, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for High Point Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. High Point Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .487. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
