Providence and Rio Hondo Prep are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Pioneers will face off against the Kares at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rio Hondo Prep will be up against a hot Providence team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Pioneers were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Westridge on Monday.

Madelynn Watts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Delailah Lopez and Gloria Galindo did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Galindo went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Aaliyah Vitari also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Providence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westridge struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Rio Hondo Prep came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Cubs as they made off with a 13-7 win.
Providence pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their record is now 16-4.
Everything went Providence's way against Rio Hondo Prep in their previous meeting back in April, as Providence made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
