Matthew Paez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
At the plate, Doral Academy let Leandro Hernandez and Caleb Hernandez run wild. Leandro scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2, while Caleb scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Leandro also put up two RBI, which werehis first of the season. Another player making a difference was George Pardo Jr., who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Doral Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Belen Jesuit has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.8 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell 10-5 to Stoneman Douglas. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Danny Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
Doral Academy pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Belen Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Doral Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Belen Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Doral Academy took their victory against Belen Jesuit when the teams last played back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 6-0. Will Doral Academy repeat their success, or does Belen Jesuit have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
