Creekview hasn't had much luck against Wakeland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will challenge the Wolverines at 6:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Creekview took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Turner. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the game before.

Lauren Hernandez and Kelis Lee made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hernandez pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Lee tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Hernandez went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Lee scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Lee a new career-high.
In other batting news, MacKenzie Martin was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelani Rogers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Creekview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakeland). They never let Highland Park get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Wakeland let Claire Schreiner and Lauren McIllwain run wild. Schreiner fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while McIllwain went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Schreiner has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Kinney, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Wakeland pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Creekview, their record is now 16-13.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Creekview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Wakeland struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Creekview might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Wakeland in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
