The Fort Bend Elkins Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Bend Elkins will be strutting in after a victory while Fort Bend Hightower will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, Fort Bend Elkins made easy work of Fort Bend Clements and carried off a 17-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Adrian Thummel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Thummel was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Jaila Davis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Victoria Vargas was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Fort Bend Elkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Fort Bend Hightower's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Ridge Point, falling 15-4.
Fort Bend Hightower saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylee Bonner, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Fort Bend Hightower's loss dropped their record down to 17-4-2. As for Fort Bend Elkins, their record now sits at 5-13.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Bend Elkins hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Fort Bend Hightower struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Bend Elkins might still be hurting after the 27-15 defeat they got from Fort Bend Hightower in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
