The Haines City Hornets can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They skirted past Lake Wales 61-58. The victory was just what Haines City needed coming off of a 74-54 defeat in their prior match.
Haines City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ixion Toro, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Toro has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Ramirez, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Haines City's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Lake Wales, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haines City will take on Davenport at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Wales, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bartow at 7:30 p.m.
