The Wildorado Mustangs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Happy Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Wildorado will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Happy is ranked 16th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-24, which was the final score in Wildorado's tilt against Claude on Friday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aden Woodard, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Woodard was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Sterling Washington was in the mix as well, providing Wildorado with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Happy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took down Nazareth 46-30. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Happy was the (much) better team in the second half.
Wildorado's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Happy, their victory was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Wildorado was taken down by Happy 70-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Wildorado have more luck at home instead of on the road?
