The Herron Achaeans struggled with assists on Saturday (the Knightstown Panthers had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Herron was outmatched by the Panthers on the road and fell 76-29. Herron has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Herron's loss came despite strong showings from Osayantin Ekhosuehi and Isreal Cozart. Ekhosuehi scored five points, while Cozart scored six points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Michael Roberson, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and five assists for Knightstown. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Roberson has scored at least a third of Knightstown's points. Another player making a difference was Palmer Newkirk, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Herron has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Knightstown, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Herron will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Knightstown, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Jets at 7:30 p.m. Anderson Prep Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
