Mt. Vernon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Richmond Red Devils on Wednesday, sneaking past 2-0. Winning may never get old, but the Marauders sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Andrew Boldt tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over ten innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Mason Meyer and Ben Schaeffer did most of the damage at the plate: Meyer went 2-for-5 with one triple and one run, while Schaeffer went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Schaeffer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Mt. Vernon's record now sits at 18-7. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
