The Murphysboro Red Devils had just enough and edged out the Marion Wildcats  4-3. The  victory was just business as usual for the Red Devils, who after three games remain undefeated  this season.
Murphysboro got a great performance from  Nathan Evans as he  struck out nine batters over  6.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   two  hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  William Bess, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. What's more,  he posted two  RBI, the most he's  had since back in April of 2024.
Murphysboro's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphysboro will take on Salem at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Marion, they will hit the road for the first time this season to  challenge  Effingham  at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday.
