The Mountain View Bears were the 63-61 winner over the Central Gwinnett Black Knights when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mountain View took a 56-37 bruising from Central Gwinnett on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mountain View has scored all season.
Central Gwinnett was led to victory by Donte Golden and Timothy Smith. Golden scored five points along with nine rebounds and seven assists, while Smith scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Golden pulled down eight or more rebounds. Malik Rideout was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Central Gwinnett, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Mountain View won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Brookwood at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Brookwood is ranked 96th, while Mountain View is ranked 94th). As for Central Gwinnett, they will head out on the road to square off against Mill Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
